Füssen-Weißensee is an ideal destination for a successful winter holiday where nothing is missing. The magical snowy landscape and the healthy air here make it possible to recharge empty batteries and completely relax. Of course, winter vacationers don't have to miss out on fun activities here either. Alpine skiers and snowboarders will be thrilled by the nearby family ski areas at Tegelberg in Schwangau, Breitenberg in Pfronten or Buchenberg in Buching, which are much more comfortable than crowded winter sports centers, but still offer the ultimate in winter sports fun. Ice skaters can do their turns on the frozen Weißensee or on one of the many other lakes in the region in front of the magnificent Alpine panorama, and there are several beautiful natural toboggan runs near cozy mountain huts for sledding and tobogganing. We'll tell you where you can experience fast-paced sledding fun around Füssen-Weißensee.
A great winter excursion including a sleigh ride takes you to the rustic Salober Alm, which is located above the mysterious Alatsee. From its bank, an easily accessible forest road, which is cleared in winter, leads in around three quarters of an hour up to the Salober Alm, which welcomes visitors again every day from 16.12.15 , except on Monday. The Salober-Alm, one of the most popular huts in the region, is located at an altitude of 20 meters and pampers its guests with delicious Allgäu and Tyrolean delicacies, which can be enjoyed either on a cozy sun terrace or in the heated dining room. After the winter hike, which is also suitable for families and older people and offers wonderful winter nature impressions as well as breathtaking views of the snow-covered foothills of the Alps, and the subsequent stop at a hut, you go back to the valley by sleigh on an adjacent natural toboggan run. The rapid descent is great fun for young and old!
The Drehhütte in Schwangau, where the winter season begins from 26.12. , also offers excellent conditions for sledding or tobogganing. This cozy hut also welcomes its visitors every day, except Mondays, with delicious food - the game specialties in particular provide culinary delights here - which can be enjoyed in a homely atmosphere. Once you've refreshed yourself, you'll then take the sleigh to the adjacent natural toboggan run and whiz quickly down into the valley. The 2,5 km long natural winter toboggan run on Buchenberg in Buching offers very special impressions when sledding, because it is illuminated until 22.00 o'clock in the evening. Racing through Allgäu at night on a sleigh is truly extraordinary and an unforgettable experience. The starting point here is the Buchenberg Alm, which is open daily.
Sledding and tobogganing in the Allgäu promises lots of fun for children and adults. If you don't have your own sled, you can rent models of different sizes wherever skis and snowboards are available. On Buchenberg, sledges can be rented directly at the valley station of the Buchenbergbahn. So nothing stands in the way of this great winter fun!
