The Hopfensee-Südrunde is a 4,9 kilometer-long winter hike that runs south of the Hopfensee over sunny meadows and through a snow-covered forest. It is easy to use and offers beautiful winter nature impressions and unforgettable views of the magnificent Allgäuer mountains.
The Hopfensee-Südrunde is the ideal winter hike for Allgäu holidaymakers in Weißensee who want to take a leisurely tour where the focus is on enjoying nature. The completely flat tour leads over sunny meadows and through snow-covered forests, and offers unforgettable views of the Allgäuer mountains, which now present themselves as white giants in winter. The starting and finishing point of the winter hike, which takes a good hour, is the hiking car park near the Gasthof Wiesbauer. To get there, drive from Füssen on OAL2 towards Hopferau. Shortly before a railway crossing, a path branches off to the right to the hiking car park. In addition to sturdy shoes, warm winter clothing is recommended for the tour.
This tranquil winter hike takes you to the south side of the Hopfensee, which is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Allgäuer Königswinkel. In summer, the Hopfensee is a popular bathing destination and attracts water sports enthusiasts who find ideal conditions here. The water is also very popular as a starting point for hikes and bike tours. In the cold months, ice skaters flock to the lake to do their turns in front of the fantastic mountain panorama. The cult sport of curling is also popular on the frozen Hopfensee. The picturesque winter landscape all around invites you to take wonderful walks that allow you to experience the beautiful aspects of the cold season. You can also look forward to great wintry impressions within a picture-book landscape on the Hopfensee southern circuit presented here.
At the parking lot, walk to the right to reach the snow-covered forest on the banks of Lake Hopfensee along a chipped and cleared path. As you hike in the pleasantly cold winter air, you can see the ice surface of the Hopfensee glittering through the snow-covered trees. With a bit of luck, the inhabitants of the forest can be seen searching for food during the hike. At the fork in the road behind the Achbrücke, follow the signpost in the direction of Füssen. The tour then leads alternately over wide snow-covered fields and through lonely forests. There are always wonderful views of the Allgäu mountains - first you can see the striking Säuling, the Füssen local mountain, and later the entire mountain range comes into your field of vision. Also included is the Falkenstein with the highest castle ruins in Germany.
After Birkenallee, turn right to return to the starting point on easily accessible paths on the banks of Lake Hopfensee. There are also breathtaking views of the magnificent Allgäu mountains across the frozen lake. Benches along the way invite you to take a break and take in the fantastic panorama. At Gasthof Wiesbauer you can warm up after your winter hike and fortify yourself with a well-deserved Allgäuer delicacy.
The cozy Hopfensee-Südrunde promises a good hour of winter nature enjoyment at its finest. The tour is ideal for enjoying the magical Allgäuer snow landscape with the whole family and having a lot of fun.
