After the glaciers melted, the wild river Breitach had to bore through the hard rock and did this over a length of 2,5 kilometers and about 150 meters deep into the rock. Already in the 19. In the 19th century there were various attempts to make the Breitachklamm accessible to visitors, but all of them failed. With the support of various donors, the Tiefenbach pastor Johannes Schiebel finally managed to make the gorge accessible after targeted blasting.

In the summer season the gorge is open from 9 to 18 Uhr and in the winter season from 9 to 17 Uhr. Last admission is one hour before closing time. A very interesting interactive exhibition awaits you in the entrance area of ​​the gorge in Tiefenbach, where you can learn a lot of interesting facts about the history and ecology of this natural wonder. Groups of at least 10 and a maximum of 15 people have the opportunity to be guided through the gorge equipped with modern audio hearing systems. During the winter season, very special experiences await you in the Breitachklamm every Tuesday and Friday at 19 Uhr. Then there are guided torchlight hikes that promise unforgettable impressions. The firelight causes countless ice crystals to sparkle and causes the ice formations to cast mysterious shadows on the walls. On such a torchlight hike through the Breitachklamm you feel like you are in a fascinating, strange world. The meeting point for this is the Tiefenbach entrance building on the days in question at 19 Uhr.
