The Bleckenau mountain inn between 1846 and 1850 was commissioned by Maximilian II, the father of the fairy tale king. He wanted to give his wife, the future Queen Marie, a special treat. Her enthusiasm for the mountains began at an early age, when she regularly spent the summer months with her family at Fischbach Castle in the Silesian Giant Mountains. The Mariannen Cottage was located there, which served as a model for the Bleckenau House, which was built in the Swiss section. Marie's son Ludwig II later used the Bleckenau as a hunting lodge before living in the 20. In the 19th century it became a mountain hut for hikers and nature lovers.
