In late summer and autumn, the beautiful Allgäu mountain landscape shows off its most magnificent side and invites you to go on unforgettable hiking tours that delight you with a wealth of wonderful impressions. One of the most attractive hikes that Allgäu holidaymakers can undertake around Füssen-Weißensee leads from the Schwangauer Tegelberg to the Ahornspitze and then over the Bleckenau, past the Marienbrücke, back to the starting point. The tour offers fantastic views of the vast foothills of the Alps, the magnificent mountains and the world-famous royal castles Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, which sit enthroned in the picture-book landscape here near Schwangau. Apart from the climb to the Ahornspitze, which requires sure-footedness but can also be skipped, the approximately 11 kilometer long tour is easy and only requires sufficient fitness. The starting point is the parking lot at the valley station of the Tegelbergbahn in Schwangau. In addition to good hiking boots and weatherproof clothing, hiking enthusiasts should also take some provisions with them for the tour.
First, the hikers can be comfortably chauffeured from the Tegelbergbahn up to the mountain station at a height of 1720 meters. During the journey you can enjoy great views of the picturesque landscape and the royal castles. The mountain station, where there is a panoramic restaurant and the Tegelberghaus, is the starting point for numerous beautiful hikes in the Ammergebirge nature reserve, which is home to a varied flora and fauna. The hiking enthusiasts follow the signposts in the direction of Bleckenau and Ahornsattel and walk gently up and down through the fascinating mountain landscape to the crossroads at Branderfleck. If you are not afraid of the easy climb to the Ahornspitze, continue straight ahead on the narrow path that winds its way up the mountain in serpentines and leads to the Ahornsattel. The path markings finally guide hikers to the Ahornspitze, which can be climbed after a little scrambling and from which there is a great view of the foothills of the Alps with its green meadows, numerous lakes and magnificent mountains.
At the crossroads at Branderfleck, the Ahornreitweg nature trail continues to Bleckenau. There are numerous information boards along the way that provide information about the special features of the landscape. The hikers then walk slightly downwards in wide serpentines while they can enjoy the wonderful nature and the impressive views. At some point the bridle path turns into a tarred forest road, on which hikers reach the Pöllattal and the Bleckenau meadows. It is now worth taking a short detour to the Bleckenau mountain inn, which treats its visitors to delicious Allgäu delicacies in a rustic atmosphere. The tour finally leads along the Pöllat torrent towards Neuschwanstein Castle. Hikers walk past the famous Marienbrücke through the wildly romantic Pöllat Gorge and at the end follow the signs to the valley station of the Tegelbergbahn.
Breathtaking panoramas, beautiful natural impressions and magnificent views of the royal castles Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau make the hike from Tegelberg to Bleckenau and back a real feast for the senses. This excursion promises unforgettable vacation hours in the Allgäu mountains around Füssen-Weißensee.
