The starting and finishing point of the trail, which is suitable for both classic cross-country skiing and skating technique, is the parking lot at the valley station on Tegelberg. The valley station is signposted in Schwangau. Once you're ready to go at the starting point, follow the trail marked "S5" to run through the beautiful Schwangau countryside for about two hours. On the way there are fantastic views over snow-covered fields and frozen lakes on which ice crystals glitter, of the imposing mountains, which are now covered in a blanket of white in winter. You pass the world-famous castles Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, which seem particularly magical in winter, and reach Alterschrofen through the Horn district.
