The Allgäu hiking trilogy is a 876 kilometer-long long-distance hiking trail network that leads through the Allgäu at three altitudes. There is no fixed starting and finishing point in the hiking trilogy, but rather three main routes that are divided into different stages and linked together by connecting paths. Hiking enthusiasts have the opportunity to put together their tours very flexibly using the modular system from the main routes and connecting paths. The three main routes (meadow walker, water strider and sky striker) represent an altitude and have different requirements. In addition, the hiking trilogy was divided into nine experience rooms, so-called trilogy rooms. They want to give hikers special stories about nature, culture and people in the respective area. These stories are conveyed at the 33 portal, stage and theme locations of the hiking trilogy through special places, information boards and showcases.

On the 341 kilometer-long Himmelsströmer route, which has been divided into 24 stages with a length of 8 to 17 kilometers, sporty hikers explore the Hochgrat, Oberstaufen and Balderschwang in the westallgäu, the Nebelhorn, Fischen and Oberstdorf in the south and the Königswinkel in the Ostallgäu. The route leads through beautiful mountain landscapes and requires a certain level of fitness and stamina. Since the individual stages are quite short, you don't have to be an experienced mountain hiker to go on the Himmelsströmer route. The route leads through the Trilogy Alp Gardens area, where hikers can expect numerous natural highlights such as the Nagelfluhkette near Immenstadt, the oldest yew tree in Germany near Balderschwang and the Hörnerkette near the climatic health resort of Fischen. This adventure area is also characterized by a variety of herb and plant species as well as alpine pastures along the way.
The Sky Striker route also takes hikers into the Primal Power Valleys theme area with its numerous wildly romantic gorges, valleys and mountain rivers. Especially around Oberstdorf, hikers can enjoy wonderful landscapes on their tours, for example in the Trettachtal and Stillachtal. Finally, the Himmelsstürmer route takes hiking enthusiasts to the Summit Worlds adventure area, where in places it goes high up onto impressive mountains such as the Hochvogel, Hengst and Roßkopf. The varied flora and fauna at the portal town of Bad Hindelang, the charming Königswinkel near Schwangau and the picturesque Tannheimer Valley, which already belongs to Austria, guarantee diverse and beautiful impressions while hiking. On many stages of the Himmelsstürmer route, hikers can also take cable cars to make the tours easier.
