Allgäu holidaymakers in Füssen-Weißensee can look forward to a wonderful day of holiday in the Tyrolean mountains on the Achlachkopf circular hike. Beautiful panoramas, culinary delicacies in a Tyrolean mountain hut and, on warm days, swimming fun in a picturesque mountain lake make the approximately 20 kilometer long tour, which is still considered an insider tip, a real hiking highlight.
The Achlachkopf circular hike takes hiking enthusiasts to the magical Reutte nature park region, which delights with its magnificent mountains and species-rich flora and fauna. However, the approximately 20 kilometer long tour, which takes around eight hours, is only for hikers in good physical condition. The start and finish point of the Achlachkopf circular hike is the municipality of Lechaschau, which belongs to the Reutte/Tirol district. From Füssen-Weißensee you can get there via the Fernpassstraße/B179 in less than half an hour by car. On the outskirts of Lechaschau you will find a signposted hiking car park.
Put on your hiking boots, shoulder your backpack and walk in Lechaschau on the “Koppen” towards Frauensee. Shortly before the picturesque body of water, take the turnoff towards Erzberg and then hike to the Schallerkapelle. Omnipresent, wonderful views over green Alpine valleys of the mighty mountains such as the imposing Säuling, which is considered Füssen's local mountain and is also called the guardian of the Allgäu, make the tour a real joy. The species-rich flora and fauna in the Reutte nature park region is also worth noting. Along the route, for example, various colorful orchid species delight the eyes in spring and summer. The tour then takes you past the Sulztaler Hütte to the Schallerkapelle, where you will have a view that will make you melt away. The view extends across the Reutte valley to the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany. The beautiful castle Neuschwanstein, which sits enthroned in the fantastic mountain scenery near Schwangau, can also be seen from here.
After you have thoroughly enjoyed the view, continue hiking to the Musauer Alm, which stands at 1290 meters above sea level within an Alpine backdrop like something out of a picture book. From the 20. April 2018 The hut welcomes its visitors for the new season and spoils them with homemade Tyrolean delicacies. Here on the sun terrace, enjoy a hearty snack or a warm treat with a view of green meadows where healthy cows graze and the surrounding mountains before continuing the tour. The route then continues along the Sababach via the Raintal and the Achilles to Musau, a small Tyrolean town with a few hundred inhabitants. Here you follow the cycle path to Oberletzen and in Hinterbichl you finally take the turnoff to Frauensee.
The dreamy Frauensee, located at 972 meters above sea level, reaches average water temperatures of 21 degrees in summer, making it perfect for cooling off on warm days. On its bank is the Frauenseestube, which invites you to take another break before finally returning to the starting point of the tour, which is only about two kilometers away. After about 8 Stunden walking time, you will certainly return to Füssen-Weißensee a little exhausted, but with lots of wonderful holiday impressions in your head. For hikers who are in good shape, the Achslachkopf circular hike is definitely a great experience that you will remember for a long time.
