Tour via Roßmoos to the Salober Alm

The rural climatic health resort Füssen-Weißensee is a hiking paradise that offers many attractive tours for every fitness level that lead through a wonderful landscape. A highly recommended tour is also the one via Roßmoos to the Salober Alm, which runs along two picturesque lakes that invite you to cool off wonderfully on warm days.

If you spend a few relaxing days in the beautiful Füssen-Weißensee, you can of course also explore the wonderful Allgäu mountain landscape while hiking. A very varied hike that offers a wealth of unforgettable holiday impressions leads via Roßmoos to the Salober Alm and on to the mysterious Alatsee, which lies on the German-Austrian border and has already been the setting for a successful Allgäu crime thriller with Inspector Kluftinger. The tour is approximately nine kilometers long and takes approximately three hours. Due to its length and a longer climb, it is considered moderately difficult. However, with a healthy level of fitness it can be mastered easily, even by families with older children. The starting and finishing point is the Weißensee outdoor swimming pool opposite the Tourist Information.

You start at the Weißensee outdoor pool and first follow the riverside path towards the forest until you turn right to Roßmoos. Now take the footpath along Roßmooser Straße to the Salober Alm / Falkenstein junction. From here you can easily orient yourself using the signs to the Salober Alm, which will reliably lead you to this popular mountain hut. After the last house in Roßmoos you will come to a pasture fence where the longer climb through the forest begins. On the way there are varied impressions of nature and fantastic views of the picturesque foothills of the Alps with its green meadows, waters and mountains. The soothing mountain air refreshes the senses and also contributes to a successful trip.

After a while you will reach a plateau where there are numerous hiking signs. Keep left here and continue to follow the signs to the Salober Alm. The last section takes you through poor meadows, which bloom colorfully in spring and are a real feast for the eyes. On the terrace of the beautifully located mountain hut you can enjoy a snack and fortify yourself for the rest of the tour. It's best to pack some provisions in your hiking backpack, as the Salober Alm is currently operated irregularly. From the hut you take a wide gravel path down to the Alatsee, which is surrounded by dense forest and, like the Weißensee, promises the best swimming fun on warm days. An exciting bird trail recently started running around the water, where you can get to know the region's interesting bird species. The tour continues via the car park on the north bank to an access road which you follow towards Weißensee. After about two hundred meters turn left onto a path that takes you to the shore. From here it is now just a stone's throw back to the starting point.

If you like, you can relax after the hike in one of the many idyllic spots on the Weißensee bank or visit the Weißensee outdoor pool. A pedal boat ride also promises a lot of fun for young and old. The hiking tour definitely guarantees a successful holiday in a truly picture-perfect setting.
