With the racing bike to the Rottachspeicher

The Rottachspeicher circuit is a 105,9 kilometer long racing bike tour that leads from Füssen through the east and upper allgäu to the Rottachtalsperre and back. The tour impresses with wonderful landscape impressions along the Alpine backdrop and offers an attractive elevation profile with many gentle and medium climbs as well as longer scooter sections.

The 105,9 kilometer-long Rottachspeicher circuit is ideal for getting to know the Allgäu better on an interesting racing bike tour. The varied route with gentle hills and short scooter sections in the Ostallgäuer part as well as medium climbs and longer descents in the Oberallgäu guarantees that this tour will never be boring. Wonderful landscape impressions along the Alpine backdrop and several lakes that invite you to swim in the summer make the Rottachspeicher circuit a real highlight for all racing cyclists in good shape. For the tour, whose starting and finishing point is the Füssener Tourist Information, approximately 5 Stunden should be planned. Anyone traveling by car in the Allgäu can park it very close to the starting point in the free P1 Festplatz car park on Kemptener Straße. From the Füssen train and bus station you can reach the Tourist Information, where a detailed route description of the tour is available, in around 5 minutes on foot. It is recommended to complete the tour between April and September.

After the racing cyclists get on their bikes at the Tourist Information, they head west into the rural Füssen district of Weißensee. Here we walk along the banks of the picturesque Weißensee before the route branches off to the east and takes racing cyclists via the small towns of Eisenberg, Zell and Schwegg to Rindegg near Nesselwang. In Eisenberg it is possible to take a short detour to the Hohenfreyberg and Eisenberg castle ruins, which form a castle ensemble that dominates the landscape and can be seen from afar. In the village of Zell there is also a castle museum that is worth seeing and provides information about the creation, use and destruction of the two castles. From Rindegg the cyclists continue via Rückholz, Barnstein, Görisried and Bodelsberg to Moosbach at the Rottachtalsperre. This first part of the tour in the Ostallgäu is characterized by gentle hills and short scooter sections in the middle of the beautiful foothills of the Alps.

From Moosbach, the Rottachspeicher circuit route takes a turn through the Oberallgäu to lead via Rottach, Rettenberg, Kranzegg and Greifenmühle to Petersthal on the eastern bank of the Rottach Dam. Here at the latest, cyclists should treat themselves to a break on the banks of the second largest lake Allgäu, or get out their bathing suits to jump into the cool water. Various water sports as well as beach volleyball and table tennis are also possible at the Petersthal leisure facility. The tour continues to the ridge west of Oy-Mittelberg, from which you can enjoy a fantastic view of the Alpine chain all the way to the Ammergau mountains. The Oberallgäuer part of the racing bike tour is characterized by significantly more pronounced hills, medium climbs and longer descents. The longest climb of the tour has to be mastered between Rettenberg and Vorderburg.

The Rottachspeicher circuit finally leads back to the Weißensee via Haslach, Nesselwang and Pfronten. The last part is very leisurely again, so that the racing cyclists can fully concentrate on the magnificent surrounding landscape. Quiet spots at Weißensee invite you to have a picnic or cool off in the clean water before returning to the starting point of the tour. Thanks to wonderful landscape impressions and a varied route, the Rottachspeicher circuit promises an all-round successful holiday on the racing bike.
